The service

Lapsed publishes a weekly guide to selected newly lapsed U.S. utility patents, with patent drawings, source records, and plain-English build analysis. The guide is for research and exploration; it does not establish that an invention is available to make, use, or sell.

Patent data and AI-generated analysis

Lapsed uses public patent information from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including PTMNFEE2 maintenance-fee event data, grant and continuity records, Patent Center application records, and primary patent drawings. Records can be delayed, incomplete, corrected, or subject to later events. Analysis and summaries are AI-generated from the official patent text; may contain errors.

Lapsed is not a law firm and its content is not legal advice, a legal opinion, a freedom-to-operate search, or a warranty about patent status. Consult a qualified patent attorney or other appropriate professional before relying on a record or commercializing an idea.

Subscription and cancellation

A Lapsed digest subscription costs $24 per month. It renews monthly until canceled. Subscribers can cancel anytime from the billing controls in their profile. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the already-paid period, and access to the digest and archive continues through that period end.
